SHOULDER PAIN

How do I reduce my shoulder pain?

The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in your body.  This high-level of mobility makes it prone to varied types of injury. There are many sources of shoulder pain including muscle strain, tendonitis, impingement or fracture.

Shoulder Pain

A common location of pain is on the outside of the shoulder.    A frequent source of pain felt in this area is from the rotator cuff.  The rotator cuff (vs “rotary cup” as people commonly say) is a group of muscles that surrounds the shoulder that is responsible for maintaining proper mechanics and stability of the shoulder.  When this group of muscles are injured because of a tear or tendon inflammation then it can cause weakness when you try to raise your arm or pain when you reach across your body or behind your back.

Treatment for shoulder conditions would include activity modification education, strengthening to address weakness and focus on restoring symmetrical movement patterns.

The cause can be due to a variety of reasons like:
Tendonitis/Tendinopathy
Bursitis
Joint Arthritis
Shoulder Muscle Strain
Rotator Cuff Tear
Adhesive Capsulitis
Impingement
Radiating Pain From Neck
